During my presentation I mentioned one of the main reasons knowledge about String Theory is important is the way in which it is rapidly becoming part of popular culture. The prime example of this is the CBS hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory and its breakout character Dr. Sheldon Cooper. The show is always entertaining and does a great job of introducing physics concepts. A very interesting resource I discovered while working on this project is the blog http://thebigblogtheory.wordpress.com/. This blog is maintained by one of the physics consultants on the show. An entry is made for each episode and details some of the physics that are mentioned in the episode. This is a great way to expand ones knowledge of some interesting physics topics.
